About
Tom Allason
Founder & CEO
Tom caught the startup bug in his teens and has never recovered. His first tech venture attempted to put location based captive video advertising into NYC cabs back in 2002. Tom moved to London in 2002 working as a broker at a startup shipping firm. In 2003 Tom founded eCourier.co.uk, the online courier company with the purple vans after a particularly frustrating experience with his local courier firm. Tom served as eCourier’s CEO from inception until 2008, overseeing the company’s growth to over 250 staff & couriers. In 2007, Tom was named “Top Gun” by Growing Business magazine and eCourier “London’s Most Inspirational Business” by the Evening Standard. In 2009 eCourier reached 6 on Deloitte’s list of UK’s fastest growing technology businesses with 5291% growth since 2004. With a professional management team in place, Tom left eCourier in 2008 to found Shutl. Tom assists a number of early-stage start-ups and serves on the advisory boards of YumShare and BookingBug. Tom is a founding trustee of FoundationStone, a charitable trust that invests in start-up charities, and is a keen poker player and skier.
