What is Shutl?

Shutl is a web service that connects retailers with local same-day courier companies.  We aggregate capacity across these carriers and integrate directly with retailers’ existing systems, displaying as a simple delivery option.  Our platform enables us to pick the best carrier for each delivery considering a number of real-time and historic factors including carriers’ price and performance.

Shutl lets shoppers choose to receive purchases within as little as 90 minutes or to select a 1 hour delivery window of their choice.*  We deliver 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We are currently trialling our service across London.  But don’t worry! If you’re not in London, we aim to offer nationwide service very soon…

How did it start?

Tom Allason began looking for a way to combine e-Commerce and immediate delivery at his previous startup - eCourier.co.uk.  The problem was that same-day courier companies are regional rather than national and none (including eCourier) had the capacity to deal with the peaks and troughs of retail demand.  Tom realised that combining the capacities of multiple courier companies could transform the courier market and solve e-Commerce’s greatest and longest standing problem… delivery.

What delivery problem?

Shopping online has come light years in the last 15 years.  Today’s consumer can find, evaluate and purchase an item in seconds however we are still stuck waiting days for delivery.  To make matters worse, on delivery day we are told to be at home from 9am to 6pm to sign for the package.  If  for whatever reason delivery fails we must then arrange re-delivery –  and if that fails we must then collect ourselves from a remote delivery depot.  It is a wonder that consumers have put up with this for so long! Don’t fret we are here to make things right…
